Vannacht werden de jaarlijkse Billboard Music Awards uitgereikt in Las Vegas; één van de belangrijkste muziekprijzen in Amerika. Dat betekende dan ook een avond vol spectaculaire optredens, een gastenlijst met de grootste namen uit Hollywood en een rode loper bezaaid met opvallende looks. Maar wie gingen er met de felbegeerde awards naar huis?
Grote winnaar
Drake heeft het record verbroken van meeste aantal gewonnen Billboard Music Awards tijdens een enkele prijsuitreiking. De Canadese rapper won dertien awards en versloeg daarmee de vorige recordhouder Adele, die in 2012 twaalf awards mee naar huis mocht nemen.
 Onder andere de prijzen voor de beste artiest, beste mannelijke artiest, beste Billboard 200 artiest en beste rapper mocht Drake op zijn naam schrijven.
Daarnaast viel ook Beyoncé, die vanwege haar zwangerschap niet aanwezig was, flink in de prijzen. Ze kreeg de onder andere de award voor beste vrouwelijke artiest, beste R&B artiest en beste tourende muzikant.
