Daarmee heeft de film de status van een Gouden Film bereikt. Waldemar Torenstra, hoofdrolspeler in De Gelukkige Huisvrouw en regisseuse Antoinette Beumer ontvingen donderdag de Gouden Film in bioscoop Het Ketelhuis in Amsterdam.
De film is gebaseerd op het autobiografische boek van Heleen van Royen en laat zien hoe Lea (gespeeld door Carice van Houten) een postnatale depressie krijgt en zelfs in een inrichting belandt. Het leven van Lea is ondanks de ‘normale’ omstandigheden geen pretje. Ze heeft een moeizame relatie met haar moeder en haar man.
Eerder ontving Carice van Houten een Gouden Kalf voor haar rol in de film Zwartboek (2008).
