Amerikaanse tv-zenders weigeren de nieuwste videoclip van de zangeres uit te zenden.
Telephone, een duet met Beyoncé zou veel te veel bloot bevatten. In de clip paradeert de 23-jarige zangeres in niet meer dan een string en tape op haar borsten. In de negen minuten durende clip, wordt ook nog flink gescholden.
De clip is een vervolg op de clip van Paparazzi. In deze vermoordt Lady Gaga haar vriend met gif. In Telephone zit ze hiervoor in de gevangenis. Bewakers scheuren haar daar de kleding van het lijf en ontkrachten dan meteen de geruchten over de tweeslachtigheid van de zangeres. Wanneer een van de bewakers de zangeres naakt in een cel gooit zeg hij: “Ik zei toch dat ze geen penis heeft.”
Het duet met Bee bevat volgens Lady Gaga een verborgen boodschap. “Ik wilde met de clip de gedachte overbrengen dat Amerika barst van de jonge mensen die worden overspoeld met informatie en technologie.”
