Al heel lang wil ik graag iets over de formule van de L’Occitane winkels schrijven.
Zo’n twee jaar geleden heb ik de oprichter van L’Occitane Oliver Baussan in restaurant de KAS in Amsterdam mogen ontmoeten. Wat een charismatische man en wat kon hij mooi vertellen hoe hij L’Occitane heeft opgericht. In 1976 liep hij in de Provence per toeval tegen een zeepfabriek aan, die hij voor niets mocht overnemen. Het enige wat Oliver de stokoude eigenaar moest beloven was, is dat wanneer hij klaar was met de fabriek, hij deze weer kosteloos door zou geven. Ik lig al jaren voor de deur van zijn zeepfabriek, maar voorlopig krijg ik de sleutel niet, want L’ Occitane heeft inmiddels meer dan 900 winkels wereldwijd en zijn ze nog lang niet van plan om te stoppen.
L’Occitane werkt al 20 jaar samen met vrouwen uit het Afrikaanse Burkina Faso. Deze groep vrouwen verwerkt de noten van de sea boter boom tot een fijn verzorgingsproduct dat beschermt en tot diep in de huid voedt, namelijk karité boter. Deze boter wordt in veel van hun producten verwerkt. De L’Occitane collectie bestaat uit een aantal klassieke productlijnen en wordt iedere maand aangevuld met een nieuwe lijn of product. De Lavender-, Shea Butter-, Olive-, Honey-, Verbena- en Almond-lijn behoren tot de klassiekers
Oliver Baussan wil dat zijn winkels voor iedereen toegankelijk zijn, dus rolstoelen moeten er makkelijk binnen kunnen komen, het personeel kan door middel van gebarentaal dove klanten te woord staan en op merendeel van haar verpakkingen staat de productomschrijving in braille. Hoewel je op afstand al kan ruiken wat de ingrediënten zijn. De verpakking van de shampoos is gemaakt van 100% gerecycled plastic. Door gebruik te maken van 100% gerecycled materiaal brengen ze het milieu het minste schade toe.
Ik heb twee grote favorieten, voor onder de douche de L’Occitane Huile de Douche Raisin (deze is geweldig tegen een droge huid) en de pillow mist, de Brume D’Oreiller. Dit mist water spuit je op je kussen voordat je gaat slapen, het zit vol met rustgevende stofjes waardoor je in een diepe slaap valt. Ook handig voor op reis als je geen zin hebt in muffe hotel kussenslopen. Deze maand komen er vier limited edition Shea butter handcrèmes uit. Deze bevatten een hoge concentratie van Karitéboter, die de huid soepel en zacht maken. Je kan ze verkrijgen in de geuren honing, amandel en kokosnoot olie. Alleen al om de geuren en die kleurrijke tubes zou ik ze al kopen.

L’Occitane is idd errug leuk, maar wel heeel erg duur. Bij The Body Shop hebben ze ook heel veel producten met shea boter en deze zijn betaalbaar(de bodyboter is 15 euries), de verpakking is ook 100% recyslebaar en het ingredient is ook nog eens community trade. Hetzelfde voor de pillow mist!
Zelfs de make-up heeft een community-trade ingredient en wordt door klanten net zo goed als clarins beschouwt!
Dus mocht je een net zo goed(misschien wel beter) maar wel betaalbaarder alternatief zoeken, kijk dan eens bij The Body Shop!
